City Group – Session 1

The group – the still-unconscious Amy notwithstanding – wakes at sunrise, just before the gates of the city open. Gavern hires a local fellow to carry the tiefling and his travel chest into the city for the low price of three copper pieces. He and Sati, together with the hired help, get into the long line to enter the city.
A certain dragonborn notices them.
Well at the gate, a man of the city guard accosts the Burned Oak. He suspects that the mercenaries are part of certain "factions," and his vehemence soon earns him the name Mr. Faction; only an uncharacteristic burst of lies and (false) emotion on the part of Sati convinces him otherwise, if only barely.
Soon after entering the city, Amy regains consciousness. The group goes on for a bit, entering a bazaar, where Gavern's hireling deems their contract complete. A spirited debate ensues between him and Gavern regarding the semantics of their deal (here, the man drops Amy's chest, to the horror of the tiefling), soon escalating into a pointless fight over three copper. The hired man calls in some buddies nearby, and despite the intervention of a young watch officer, Gavern is knocked cold.
The dragonborn from earlier, having entered the city without trouble, intervenes now, taking out Gavern's weary opponent in a single blow. The young officer stabilizes Gavern.
Gavern comes to in a makeshift prison, to the sound of Mr. Faction interrogating Ramas Deadwood a.k.a. Amy.
The Oak and their new dragonborn ally afford the watchman no respect, while the "interrogation" goes on until a dwarf woman enters the guardhouse. She claims that the members of the Oak have "paid their insurance," which sees them released from the custody of the city watch. Upon leaving the guardhouse, Sati has only one thing to say to her employer: "Idiot."
Introductions are made in the streets of the city. The dragonborn is Arakkoa Sotek, returned from long exile, and the dwarf is "Lucky" of the Stoneblood clan, which Amy recognizes to be a criminal syndicate. Despite the latter's objections Gavern offers her the services of the Burned Oak Company. It is agreed that they will come visit the Stoneblood headquarters in the city the day after.
Lucky and the group go their separate ways, the latter seeking out something to eat. Afterward, they go looking for lodgings, and a main base of operations for the Oak. Sati selects a molten-looking structure on the rooftop patio of another building, entirely because of its colour (white, her favourite).
Sotek moves to leave, but a flash of insight compels Sati to hold him back. Instead, the dragonborn warrior agrees to join up with the Burned Oak, becoming the fourth member of the resurrected company.
The newly-expanded Oak settles in for its first night in what just became their headquarters. The day after, the four make the acquaintance of a half-orc woman who owns a restaurant across the street from them, as well as her strange but satisfying cuisine. Then, led by a dwarf in Lucky's employ, they head for the Stoneblood clan's territory.
The Stonebloods' seat of power turns out to be a mansion in the heart of primarily-dwarven neighbourhood. Lucky meets the Oak there, taking them into the depths of the mansion and the office of the Stoneblood patriarch. they are asked to wait at the door.
Sati takes the opportunity to explore the immediate area, coming upon a group of dwarves playing cards and gambling. She is invited to join in by their leader, Vondal Stoneblood, first and only son of the clan patriarch. The witch reveals herself familiar with the game of Three-Dragon Ante, and skilled at it, winning a handy sum in gold. She gives it to Gavern for safekeeping.
Soon, Lucky returns to escort them into the presence of the patriarch. His ancient gaze scans each of them in turn and, after a moment of stony silence, gives them his approval. After this, Lucky offers them a job for the coming day, which the Oak accepts.
As the exit the patriarch's office and make to leave the Stoneblood mansion, they overhear Vondal and his cronies discussing the power struggle between him and Lucky, the protegé of the senescent patriarch.
After leaving the Stonebloods, Gavern suggests that he, Amy, and Sotek go to a tailor to get the latter something to reflect their new employment, as well as a banner for the company as a whole. Sati, disinterested, goes off on her own to explore.
The young witch ambles randomly through the nameless city, her way across the pale walls. After some time, she discovers an alley which, on her previous two passes of that particular building, did not exist. She goes in to explore, heedless of any danger, only to get caught in a dead end when the street behind her turns into a brick wall, featureless but for the sword and shield mounted on it.
Then the sword wakes and, despite her attempts to ward it off, runs her through.
Amy, Gavern, and Sotek return to headquarters in the gathering night. They find Sati lying on her bedroll, sleeping without dreaming.

City Group – Session 0

The Burned Oak – Gavern and Sati, at this point – journeys through the wastes of Dacien, hired to guard the caravan of Osborne Brushgather and his family. They are headed for the newborn city, and aside from a few bandits, it has been an uneventful trip so far.
They spot a traveller up ahead, dragging a chest through the dust. When the caravan catches up to him, he introduces himself as one Amy Smithson, and is invited to join the caravan by Osborne.
The Future
Gavern rushes through the streets of the city, a package under his arm. He smashes through the door of an abandoned house, hides the package under a bed, and prepares for battle. Shortly thereafter, Sati and Amy enter, disregarding the agreed-upon knock. As Sati retrieves the package, Gavern and Amy look for other means of escape. They discover a trap door, and Gavern sends Amy down to investigate.
Shortly thereafter, their pursuers come upon them. Gavern, standing ready by the door, kills the first man as soon as he enters and blockades the entrance, shouting a challenge to those outside. The gangsters – the enemy –  hold off, as their leader offers the Burned Oak a chance to surrender the package. Just as the Burned Oak, they are unwilling to go back on a contract (theirs with the Dragon Bones, the Oak’s with an unknown party).
The offer is denied, and battle is joined. Gavern strikes against another thug, but his blow is parried. The counterattack drives him to his knees, leaving an opening for Sati’s magic. Aided by Amy’s music, Gavern soon rises to strike down one thug, killing him with a deep cut to the shoulder. The one who was hit by Sati’s magic moves to attack her, but is intercepted by Gavern’s sword and summary headbutt.
The final thug flees. Their leader taunts Sati as he casts a spell of his own:
“What a disappointment you must be to our master.”
And Back Again
The Brushgather family comes upon an oasis in the wastes. Prompted by Sati's "intuition," Gavern suggesst that Amy and the halflings keep their distance while the Oak investigates. They find the oasis occupied by elves (or the semblance of elves) whose suspicious interest in the Brushgather children drives the group to avoid them.
As the caravan instead heads for a rest stop to resupply, Amy is recruited into the Burned Oak company, nominally to pay for its protection during the journey to the city.
On the road to the rest stop, Gavern goes off alone to investigate something that's caught the attention of a flock of vultures, only to discover the corpse of a half-orc. Searching the body, he finds Baltan papers – quite possibly forged – identifying the deceased as one Ramas Deadwood; looting it, he claims the corpse's well-made boots and a small, sealed box. Upon reuniting with the caravan, Amy informs him that the box's Draconic incription says "Opens only to the worthy." Amy takes custody of the box.
Eventually reaching the rest stop, Gavern and Sati go to resupply while Amy entertains the Brushgather children. After a tense negotiation with the local tavernkeep – a one-eyed dwarf who claims to have fought opposite the first Burned Oak in the War, losing an eye to two elves in its employ and taking their lives in return – Gavern trades the stolen boots, along with three pieces of silver, for a few jugs of water to carry the caravan the rest of the way.
The Oak and the Brushgathers continue their journey, their destination eventually coming into view. As they approach, they are hailed by a poncho-clad halfling seated on a rock. Gavern accomplishes little but further tension, but Amy stays behind, briefly, to speak with the stranger. She tells him two things: firstly, that one can swim through air in certain parts of the wasteland simply by holding one's breath (hence it's epithet "the Ocean") and secondly that the young city is a dangerous, dangerous place. Thanking her for the information, the tiefling rejoins the caravan.
Finally reaching the city gates by sunset, the Oak and the Brushgathers learn that the gates will be closed until dawn. They decide to wait it out among the other travellers assembled by the gate; only Sati notes that there appears to be residents of the city among them. Gavern seeks payment for the Oak's work with the Brushgathers, but Osborne finds a significant portion of their funds missing. Taking it in stride, the halfling assures Gavern that this sudden debt will be repaid, as soon as he comes to collect.
The Burned Oak splits off from the halfling family to make camp, but are soon interrupted by a child's scream back at the Brushgather wagon. While Amy rushes off to help in a heartbeat, Gavern stays behind to make a calculated decision, and to prod Sati into lending her aid as well.
The commotion turns out to be caused by an ogrillon, which has assailed the Brushgather children, for whatever reason. It proves to be a fierce opponent, striking Amy down before itself falling (and losing its head) to the combined efforts of Sati and Gavern. While Sati tends to the wounded tiefling – again only at her captain's prodding – the leader of the Burned Oak adds a fee for "children saved" to the Brushgathers' debt.
As the sky darkens, the members of the Oak return to their makeshift camp. Gavern, self-satisfied, bites into an apple.

City Group - Session 2

Morning - Sati wakes up and the rest of the Company (Gavern, Amy and Sotek) is already up. Sati has a scar that she keeps hidden.
Restaurant - Everyone down for breakfast, Sotek and Sati notice a suspicious dwarf entering. Gavern speaks with the dwarf and all follows the dwarf.
Passes through a marketplace to a bowl shaped building with smoke rising up from it. it is a bathhouse and inside the Company is directed to stall 4
Stall 4 - While waiting Sati tells Amy about the scar and the magical alley and then 3 human males enter, 2 younger and 1 older (Skinny Dan the ladies man). The old one enters the bath and Gavern and Amy joins him. After some lying from Gaverns side he directs the old man to Amy and while he is distracted attacks and kills him. Lucky Stoneblood is pushed in by Sati and Lucky puts the lights out and runs and kills one of the young men. Sotek attacks with a frost breath were he thinks the enemies are, hits lucky and the young one. Sati lights the room with a spell and the young one attacks Sotek. Amy gets out of the now blood filled water to retrieve his weapon and Gavern engages the young one. Lucky kills the young one and gets through clenched teeth says “so cold” and jumps in the bloody bath. They all move to Stall 7.
Stall 7 - 2 half-orcs, 1 male and 1 female and 1 well dressed male gnome (Alvin Twokill) enters stall 7. Gavern is already in the bath and the male half-orc guards the door into stall 7 while Lucky and Alvin goes to change and enter the bath.
(During the discussion between Gavern, Lucky and Alvin [Alvin: “Call me chicken..” And gets interrupted by Gavern: “Chicken”])
The discussion has its ups and down and ends with Alvin accepting the terms if one of the Burned Oak wins a one-on-one with the female half-orc Dora. Sotek takes the challenge and it is decided it will be public. Amy leads with music from his trumpet gathering a crowd to the marketplace while Lucky, Gavern, Sati, Alvin and the male half-orc stays in stall 7.
Marketplace - When a circle of people is formed and it looks like Sotek and Dora are ready Amy stops playing and the duel begins. Sotek get hit for 12 having 2hp left, crits for 24 and Dora uses Relentless Endurance to stay at 1hp and hits Sotek for 5 winning the duel.
Stall 7 - With the return and Alvin bids farewell and when they leave you can hear [Male half-orc: “You okay?” Dora: “That was my favorite tit”]. With that the Company decides to go and do their own things.

Amy meets old wrinkly human and elf looking like a 20-year something with the same manner of the old human.
Sati notice unusual carving of gods including Moratik.
Sati and Amy then meets up and goes to the location of the Alley and it is not there.
Later that evening Mr. Faction gets called to the bathhouse and suspects Deadwood.
Forward 1 week with the Company doing some side jobs and trying to get comfortable to the life in the City the Company currently being free are separated. Gavern is at a tavern, Amy the Alley and Sati and Sotek at home.
The female officer (Fiona) comes to the home base. Speaks with Sati asking for help with a ces and Sati telling to return later.
Gavern overhearing a story involving the Burned Oak during the war and corrected them and in that process learns that a teifling named Fogo Ekerra that were in the Burned Oak is int the City.
Amy doing his daily inspection to see if the Alley have appeared sees a wanted poster of his friend David Moongazer.
And with that session 2 ends.
